While most four-year-olds were restless in the pews of our Boonton, NJ church, I was doing something else: I was listening. I was waiting for the harmonies.
My sound is a map of my roots; a blend of the classic soul, R&B, ska, and reggae I heard at home, the gospel I sang on Sundays, and the classical piano I began studying at age five. By the time I was singing on the school bus, my classmates knew my voice sounded "different," even if we didn't have a word for "soul" just yet.
That curiosity eventually turned into composition. From remixing Beethoven at my senior recital to singing with the University of Michigan Gospel Chorale, music was always the heartbeat. But it was a trip to Brazil, singing at open mics across the country, that finally convinced me to take my gift seriously.
Since 2012, I’ve poured that energy into Oxygen Box and Soul Surgery Productions LLC. As a lead vocalist, keyboardist, and songwriter, I’ve toured from the Tri-State area to Florida, releasing our EP Soul Surgery and our full-length album Move Out.
While the band’s movement was my musical home, it also became the catalyst for my own evolution. Out of that collective energy, my path as a solo artist was born. I stepped into this new chapter in 2021 with my debut single, "I Declare," a declaration of my own sound and vision. Most recently, I’ve continued that journey with my latest release, "Wave of Love," which arrived earlier this year.
Whether I’m performing with the band or sharing my solo work, my goal remains the same: to be what the Montclair press called a "breath of fresh air."
